Chemical tempered glass (Also known as ionic exchange enhancement glass):
通过离子交换，玻璃表层碱金属离子被熔盐中的其它碱金属离子置换，使机械强度提高的玻璃。

在化学玻璃的组成中，B2O3（氧化硼）部分取代了SiO2，所以化学玻璃又称为硼酸盐玻璃或硼硅酸盐玻璃。如有一种化学玻璃的组成为SiO2占81％，B2O3占12％，Na2O占5％和Al2O3占2％。化学玻璃的热膨胀系数小，所以耐骤冷骤热；化学玻璃也具有高的热稳定性和化学稳定性──这些性能都比钾玻璃更为优良。另外，比起钾玻璃来化学玻璃的熔化（或者说软化）温度更高，而受撞击时更不易破裂。因此，化学玻璃是比钾玻璃更为优良的用以制造某些化学仪器的材料。
